The Perfect 10/10/10

Since the dawning of the 21st century, triple-number wedding dates have been popular. June 6, 2006 (6-6-06) wasn't fondly embraced, but July 7, 2007 (7-7-07) was extremely popular, followed by August 8, 2008 (8-8-08) which was a big hit because the phrase “I Love You” has exactly 8 letters and the number "8" turned on it's side illustrates the symbol for "infinity." September 9, 2009 (9-9-09) seemed to have a mediocre following, but here we are facing another big date ... 10/10/10! I must admit 10/10/10 has a great ring to it, but here are a few more "pros" to ponder: * 10/10/10 falls on a weekend (Sunday). * As referred to in The Straits Times, "10" marks the end of a single-digit set of numbers and thus a 10/10/10 wedding symbolizes the union of two individuals and the start of living together. * Ten implies completeness of order, nothing lacking and nothing over. It signifies that the cycle is complete and that everything i...

Signature Songs

My awesome time as a wedding singer allowed me to hear, learn and perform a wonderful variety of first dance songs . I've sung ballads, rock hits, hip-hop, country, folk and even tunes in different languages based upon the specific requests of brides and grooms. But through it all, there are only a few at the top of my personal list. Below are my top three. I used Oleta Adams' prayerful tune, "Just Before I Go To Sleep" in my own wedding and the lyrics to "Make Me Whole" by Amel Larrieux are among the sweetest I've ever heard. Still, "When You Love Someone" is my all-time favorite and will most likely kick off the soundtrack of my husband and I renewing our vows some 20 years from now. Enjoy! Just Before I Go To Sleep by Oleta Adams SNIPPET: Just before I go to sleep I say a prayer that God will keep the two that He's joined together safe and more in love than ever. When You Love Someone by Bryan Adams SNIPPET: You'll de...

9-9-09 ... Good or Bad Idea?

Triple-number wedding dates have been an interesting trend for the last 6 years or so. July 7, 2007 (7-7-07) was probably the most popular, and then of course August 8, 2008 ( 8-8-08 ) was not only the day the Chinese launched the Olympic games but the day chosen by thousands of engaged couples because the phrase “I Love You” has exactly 8 letters and the number "8" turned on it's side illustrates the symbol for "infinity." So what about September 9, 2009? Let's explore the pros and cons of 9-9-09: PROS Wikipedia says: "The number 9, being the greatest of single-digit numbers, was historically associated with the Emperor of China; the Emperor's robes often had nine dragons, and Chinese mythology held that the dragon has nine children. Moreover, the number 9 (jiu) sounds like the word for "longlasting", and as such is often used in weddings. Several wedding planners and hotels (such as Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas ) ...

I like to repost this about every 6 months, as it really comes in handy when couples are just starting to plan their weddings and choose dates. While there's absolutely no way you can ensure a warm sunny day and there's nothing you can do to prevent a misty rainshower, you CAN do a little research and try to make a decision based on theory . The Hottest Wedding Date Of The Year

I first started to notice this such number sequence craze with 4-4-04. And last year ... well ... let's just say the number 7 seemed to be lucky for just about everyone: July 7, 2007 fell on a Saturday and the rest is literally HISTORY. So, here we are 6 days into 2008 and Friday, August 8 th continues to generate lots of buzz in the wedding industry. Why? The date has a pretty nice ring to it. It's set to be really popular for Chinese weddings (since eight is considered the most fortuitous of numbers within that culture) and it is the chosen date for the start of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games (no coincidence). It falls on a Friday ... though not optimal for most engaged couples (Saturday is still the prime choice for weddings), still attractive nonetheless because of the possibilities for great themes and deals via automatic lower prices for Friday night weddings. Turn the number 8 on it's side and you get the infinity symbol = FOREVER, NEVER ENDING, UNTIL THE END OF TIM...
