Best Of: Views & Clicks

Our blog After YES, Before I DO and Everything In Between has become an awesome medium for all of us at The Bridal Party and for all of it's readers/followers/subscribers. And whenever I'm looking over blog stats, my favorite metrics for each post are the views and clicks.  So I decided to look a little deeper and share with you the posts that generated top results:

Check out our latest inspiration board ... boasting a Rose Dust and Lavendar palette, another two of Pantone's chosen fashion colors for Spring 2009. This is the color scheme for the bride that truly wishes to set herself apart from the crowd. Soft, yet striking. And don't forget to add a little chocolate brown here and there!

Ask Rashana: Anything But Run-Of-The-Mill

Dear Rashana,
I'm very interested in giving my wedding guests a "different experience." I've been to about 15 weddings in my lifetime and not-surprisingly they were all very, very similar. I want my wedding to be unique and provide our family and friends with something they're not used to. While I'm not a fan of making big changes to our religious ceremony, I am interested in exploring unique options for the reception. What reception formats could you suggest?

The Bridal Party's RU Pink Bride was married yesterday afternoon at the Voorhees Chapel on the campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (which is her, the groom and my alma mater). This ceremony site was founded in 1925 and is often the site of college ceremonies, student assemblies, musical concerts, weddings and other programs by artists, scholars and speakers.  Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Bridegewater Manor and guests were intrigued throughout the day and evening by the beautiful pink and silver palette, a touching hand-fasting ceremony and a 7-piece live band.

Recession Fashion

February 3, 2009
Per Wikipedia, "the term recession generally describes the reduction of a country's gross domestic product (GDP) for at least two quarters.  The usual dictionary definition is 'a period of reduced economic activity,' a business cycle contraction."  And for some time it's been safe to say we're experiencing a recession.  So what does this mean for you gals getting ready to walk down the aisle, preparing to stand up as a bridesmaid or those just joining in the party?  This could be the time to test a more practical approach.

Marie & Derren: RU Pink

There were several hurdles to overcome during this event, but that's EXACTLY what we were there for.  All unforeseen snafus were handled discreetly and with grace, thus in the end everything was lovely.  The ceremony was held at the Voorhees Chapel on the campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (which is her, the groom and my alma mater).  The reception was held at the Bridegewater Manor.  And our favorite element was our signature "pink" sweets sideboard (candy buffet), which we surprised the guests with toward the end of the evening.

Notice The Difference

A growing trend among brides and their wedding parties is non-matchy-matchy bridesmaid dresses and bouquets. Some may continue to shy away from this idea, as it can be deemed "nontraditional," but it's a clever way to set your wedding apart from rest. Furthermore, for groups of bridesmaids with varying body types, this idea may come as a godsend! Once a cohesive color palette is chosen, allowing each maid to choose her own dress style and possibly even the flowers for her bouquet ensures everyone is comfortable.

I was first contacted by the groom for this 225 guest affair and really enjoyed working with the couple. First, they exchanged vows with full mass, and then partied the night away at The Imperia in Somerset, New Jersey. We always have a great time at The Imperia and all were pleased. One of the highlights of the night, however, was The Bridal Party's Sweets Sideboard (an automatic inclusion on all of our wedding packages) which featured all purple, lavender, chocolate and champagne colored candies and cupcakes. In lieu of traditional favors, the couple made donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but our candy display still afforded their guests the opportunity to take a few "sweet mementos" home and they were ecstatic!

The Bridal Party's Springtide Soirée Bride was happily married yesterday, TWICE! First at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Princeton, New Jersey and then again at Cairnwood, inside the private estate of 19th Century industrialist John Pitcairn, located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania. This festive celebration featured a great many multi-cultural details that honored both families' traditions and customs in addition to a gorgeously adorned mandap, signature drinks I affectionately named "Love Potion 425" (because of the occasion and the date, 4/25), specially named tables, personalized good-bye candies and a surprise golf-themed cake for the groom.

Weekly Wedding Eye-Candy: 10/28/09

Our Weekly Wedding Eye-Candy today features the recent wedding of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, which took place at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. 500+ guests attended this fabulous event and no detail went unattended.  Ivanka wore several pieces from her very own jewelry collection but she called on Vera Wang to create a one-of-a-kind gown, which was beautifully inspired by the gown Princess Grace Kelly wore to wed Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956. The gown was spectacular...as was the floral design, courtesy of none other than Mr. Fabulous himself, Preston Bailey!
Check out this video of Preston talking about the experience of putting it all together.

An "Office" Wedding

My friends over at cHill Weddings posted this video from The Office and I just couldn't resist the urge to repost. This parody of a wedding processional is hilarious. The part where the organist was given the "cut" gesture and the iPod was started literally made me laugh out loud.

Enjoy!

Had A Blast at BizBash

We attended the BizBash trade show yesterday in New York City, which is the event planner's favorite source for venues, caterers, rentals, entertainment, decor, banquet halls, audiovisual production, security, staffing, ideas, style, trends, industry news, planning tips and marketing strategies. It was basically like being a kid in a candy store (albeit the Javits Convention Center) for The Bridal Party, because we're always focused on staying on top of what's new and hot in our industry. Thus, we browsed, ran into old friends, met new friends and further developed a few already-existing vendor relationships.  And business aside, it's always fun to watch the performers, especially our favorite moving-table-ladies.

Here are a few snapshots from the show floor (courtesy of my BlackBerry Tour, since I left my camera at home):

We're Putting Down Roots!

As everyone's aware, there's no place like home...thus we're thrilled to announce The Bridal Party is in the process of opening doors to a brand new office/planning studio!

Our new space will provide a professional yet inviting comfort to our current and future clients. We've partnered with a close colleague/friend to bring forth a remarkable presentation, providing the very best to our brides and grooms to-be, such that it's an understatement to say we are truly overwhelmed with excitement.

While it's a little too soon to provide a confirmed open-date, being that there's still LOTS of work to do, we'll be sure to keep you posted.

The Knot and The Runway

This year, The Knot will broadcast live from an unprecedented four runway shows, feature brand-new editor vlogs -- video blogs -- updated in real time, showcase more than 600 runway photos, stream a half-hour live recap special, and much more.

The Knot will double the amount of live coverage from last season as it broadcasts straight from the runways of world-renowned designers, including Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Jenny Packham, and Claire Pettibone.

The Knot Editor in Chief, Carley Roney, along with her team of wedding and fashion editors, will be on-site broadcasting live before the shows, providing unedited commentary and behind-the-scenes excitement, followed by the debut of the designer’s new collection. This event will bring all the glitz and glamour of the runway directly to brides in real time.

Kicking off Saturday, October 17, at 11 a.m. ET on TheKnot.com, Claire Pettibone presents her Spring 2010 Bridal Collection from NYC hot spot Buddakan in the heart of the trendy Meatpacking District. Carley will be interviewing Claire beforehand, and getting a sneak peek at the hair and makeup trends which will be hitting her runway.

Tune in again to TheKnot.com for instant front-row access to the following shows:

· Saturday, October 17, at 5 p.m. ET -- Jenny Packham -- Before her latest looks hit the runway, Carley and her team will chat with Jenny about her latest celebrity bride, Jaime Pressly, complete with sketches and photos of her gown!

· Sunday, October 18, at 11 a.m. ET -- Monique Lhuillier -- Carley and her team bring you along to one of the most anticipated events of the entire week! Last season, this celebrity favorite incorporated peacock feathers into her bridal collection -- what will she think of next?

· Sunday, October 18, at 3 p.m. ET -- Badgley Mischka -- Along with an interview with this legendry duo, The Knot will give you a live peek at all of the new looks in this jam-packed show, including their signature line, bridesmaid styles, and their brand-new “Mark & James” collection -- perfect for brides on a budget!

But the live coverage doesn’t stop there! Brides are also invited to tune in for a full recap of all of the shows and trends during a special edition of The Knot LIVE (TheKnot.com/live) airing from The Knot headquarters in Manhattan this Monday, October 19, at 3 p.m. ET.

Continuing the coverage, editors at The Knot will be vlogging from dozens of runway shows and appointments. From impromptu interviews to highlighting some of their favorite new trends -- and perhaps even glimpsing at a celebrity sitting front row at a show -- you’ll never know what might happen, so be sure to tune in to TheKnot.com/fashion.

And as if that’s not enough, video crews from The Knot will be taping at dozens of shows, which you can watch at your convenience on The Knot TV on Demand (TheKnot.com/tv).

It's all a MUST SEE!

So, it's no secret I'm a BIG fan of PosePrints and it's likely due to Jen & Denise always coming up with new and unique options for personalizing all of your stationary needs for special occasions (save-the-dates, baby shower invitations, thank you cards, etc). Four Feet, One First Dance

A couple's first dance tends to be one of the most memorable parts of their wedding. But sometimes, two very different tastes in music make it difficult to chose the right tune. DailyCandy has developed the cutest first dance helper that comes in the form of a grid. Consider using this if you get into a bind. It'll also steer you away from the "At Last's" and "Unforgettable's" by suggesting a few 'off-the-beaten-dead-horse ditties.'

Enjoy and have fun!

Weekly Wedding Eye-Candy: 10/14/09

Our Weekly Wedding Eye-Candy today features a Nigerian wedding exquisitely photographed by Kevin Jairaj, an internationally award-winning photographer based out of Dallas, Texas. This gorgeous wedding was set in London, England, and the crisp delight captured in each photo blows me away. Although subtle, I think I'd have to say my favorite thing about this group of photos are the faint glimpse of the Houses of Parliament in the background on a couple of images ... especially the endearing photo of the bride's Louboutins. Genius!

Feast your eyes ...

The Bridal Party's In-Store Event w/ Macy's

Yesterday afternoon, The Bridal Party and Macy's teamed up to throw a Quinceañera Planning Party!  Some may not have known The Bridal Party does more than just weddings, but in this day and age since planning coming-of-age events are very much like planning weddings, of course we do!  After all, Quinceañeras (coming of age ceremonies/events held on a girl's fifteenth birthday) and Sweet Sixteens take as much time, organization and planning as weddings in so many ways, and we had a blast!

We partnered with floral artisans A Touch of Elegance in addition to our favorite linen companies and of course Macy's, to create four tablescapes for Quinceañeras and Sweet Sixteens which we set-up in the Juniors section of the store at Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, New Jersey.  The themes we designed were "Cinderella/Fairy Tale," "Easy, Breezy, Beautiful...Cover Girl," "Princess and the Pea" and "Marie-Antoinette."  Everyone LOVED our displays, in addition to the fashion show, music and celebration of Latin culture.

In case you missed it, here are snapshots from the event:
