What's In The Wedding Planner's Bag?

My bag generally changes every day or every other day, depending on my mood and my wardrobe. But the contents are usually the same...just transferred from bag to bag as I go along. So, what's in there??? Let's have a look.

First and foremost, I can't live without my ThinkPad tablet. It's the thinnest, lightest convertible tablet laptop on the market and I carry it pretty much anywhere. Plus, it knows my handwriting, so instead of accumulating tons of notes on paper I'm easily able to use it's pen, take notes on the screen and file everything on my computer for easy access. I love it!

My iPod Nano travels with me everyday as well. It doesn't play video like the newer models, but I'm all about music (which I diligently separate and categorize by genre) so it keeps me happy.

Being an event planner could never be a part-time job or hobby, so I carry my brochures and business cards with me at all times. I can't tell you how many times I've gone somewhere totally not expecting to talk business, yet it came up! Plus, my mother bought me a beautiful business card holder inspired by the filigree art of Louis Comfort Tiffany (son of Charles Tiffany, founder of the luxury silver and jewelry firm Tiffany & Company).

Speaking of Tiffany & Co., I am also never without my Tiffany Blue purse pen, a gift from my stepfather. She's small, but she's quite a head-turner.

Magazines rotate in and out of my bag weekly, but the staples are usually the latest issues of Martha Stewart Weddings and Lucky. Martha Stewart Weddings for the "bride" and "planner" in me, Lucky for the "fashionista" and "shopper" in me.

And of course, it goes without saying that I can not live with my Jawbone Bluetooth and BlackBerry 8830, which also happens to be a World Edition (ready for the day my business expands globally). With my BlackBerry, I will be able to travel the world with full mobile voice and data coverage, without having to switch smartphones, phone numbers or email addresses). I doubt I'll ever be able to go back to a regular cell phone.

Then there's my L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream which has got to be the best hand cream on the market. I'm one of those people who can't function with dry hands, so when I ever leave home without my hand cream, I usually have to stop and buy some.

I'm also extremely attached to my MAC blot powder (for the nose that never stops shining) and Philosophy "Gingerbread Man" lip shine. I'm not a foundation, lipstick and eye-shadow type of gal. All I need is lip gloss, mascara and some blot powder for my nose and I'm good to go.

Finally, there's my Jordi Labanda notebook that has the coolest "Parisian fashion magazine" cover. If I ever leave this at home, I'm in trouble! It's full of ideas, numbers and impulse thoughts. I'm lost without it. Plus, it's just so cute!

What's in your bag???

I'm so impressed you carry all that every day! Mine always contains: phone, small journal, wallet, pens, business card case (with rhinestones in a tiara-shape), keys, chapstick and the mini nail files from Ms. Manicure. For meetings, add in a Mac Book and a three-ring binder. :)

"Farm Sweet Farm" 1st Birthday Party

My husband and I celebrated our baby twins, Jonah & Gia's, 1st birthday with a "Farm Sweet Farm" party last weekend.  The party was held at our home (aka The Anderson Farm ) and our closest family and friends excitedly attended.  Honestly it's still difficult for us to believe a full year has gone by since they entered our lives, but one thing was clear from the beginning --- we had a lot to celebrate and we intended to do just that! Everyone had loads of fun; they would've partied until the cows came home if we let them.  And since the guests of honor LOVE animals, the theme proved to be absolutely perfect for them and their guests.  To most, I'm known for planning amazing weddings and bridal celebrations by means of THE BRIDAL PARTY , so it was really a lot of fun to step outside of my comfort zone and show off my versatility and range.  I can't deny, this was FUN!  I'm still quite "giddy" about it all. * * * * * * * * * * INVITA

scam (skām): A fraudulent business scheme

Y esterday, I received my first wedding scam attempt (guess my latest marketing and advertising efforts are starting to work). I received an email from an "Irish" bride-to-be whose fiance was offered a job in the U.S. and needed help planning a small wedding in New Jersey. I vaguely remembered hearing of certain swindle attempts on wedding vendors (especially photographers and videographers), so my radar peaked immediately, however, I didn't jump to any conclusions right away. I responded to the email, drew up a preliminary proposal, quoted cost of service and submitted an invoice for payment. Nonetheless, when it became apparent that the bride-to-be and her French fiance only intended on mailing a cashier's check, I knew right away what I was dealing with ... a scam! I happen to know that international cashier's checks are not fully validated for 90 days. So even though the check may clear at first, if found to be phony, the money is later deducted. I must say, i

New Beginning, New Life...Newlyweds, find your StyleScope!

Surprisingly I'm not ashamed to admit how much I adore shopping at HomeGoods (known for being packed with an ever-changing array of one-of-a-kind, and unexpectedly incredible finds from all over the world). There's just something about perusing their aisles and discovering those diamonds in the rough . So, to my husband's dismay, I am frequently "HomeGoods happy"...even recently taking advantage of an amazing sale on Lacoste bath linens! (yep, still somewhat giddy about it) Anyhow, as many of our readers are soon-to-be married or newly married, you'll have to take on the task of figuring out how your new home will be decorated.
