What's On Your Registry?

Bedding ... flatware ... home decor ... luggage ... these are all common items on engaged couple's wedding registry lists. And while it can be fun as well as practical to hand-pick many of the items you'll receive for your wedding, always remember to make it count. Be sure to include one-of-a-kind items, defining pieces that could potentially stay with you until your 50th anniversary, keepsakes to pass down through the generations ... starting with you.

Here are a few of the "hottest" wedding registry picks to consider:

Artisan Stand Mixer

One of the most popular kitchen appliances on the market and also, the prettiest! The Artisan stand mixer is a must for bakers. It boosts 10-speeds and a 5-qt. stainless steel work bowl. A wonderful tool to display on your counter top. Available at Bloomingdales.

Ralph Lauren "Odeon" Bedding

Ralph Lauren's brand has been built and maintained on tradition .... and the antiqued 1930s wallpaper pattern that inspires this collection is timeless. "Odeon" also includes 450 thread-count sateen sheets and the duvet features braided rope edging woven with glistening metallic silver threads. Surprising Note: It's machine washable! Who woulda thunk it?

Apple TV

Download, sync, watch. Is there anything Apple hasn't thought of? Nope! Now there's always something good on TV. Move your movies, shows, photos and more from your iTunes library to your TV. Plus, using the Apple remote makes navigating through the files very easy.

Tiffany Palladium Fine China

Fine bone china is a wise choice when selecting formal dinnerware. This particular collection is also quite extensive, allowing you to add pieces as the years go by with ease. Being both classic and modern, the Palladium set is also versatile ... perfect for both formal and casual occasions. Pieces alternate between hand-painted platinum and hand-painted gold rims. Exquisitely classy by Tiffany & Co.

All-Clad Cookware
One of my absolute favorites ... arguably among the very best cooking tools available today. The All-Clad Stainless Steel 15-Piece Cookware Set is a great beginner's set, perfect for those who love to cook and/or entertain. Safe to use on any cook top and even dishwasher safe. Sure, you can buy a set of pots and pans for a much lower price-tag, but don't forget, you get what you pay for.

Swarovski Crystalline Toasting Flutes
Extremely popular for many years, this set of flutes is still so beautiful. My hubby and I made our first toast as husband and wife with these and every time I take them out, I marvel at how gorgeous they are. Designed by Steven Weinberg for Swarovski, each clear crystal-filled stem has a faceted crystal base and is a perfect gift for any bride and groom.

Personalizable Family History
RedEnvelope is famous for personalization and sentimentality. This personal archive could quickly become a family treasure, where you can record events, document memorable dates, highlight lasting achievements, preserve family traditions and pass genealogical information on to future generations.

scam (skām): A fraudulent business scheme

Y esterday, I received my first wedding scam attempt (guess my latest marketing and advertising efforts are starting to work). I received an email from an "Irish" bride-to-be whose fiance was offered a job in the U.S. and needed help planning a small wedding in New Jersey. I vaguely remembered hearing of certain swindle attempts on wedding vendors (especially photographers and videographers), so my radar peaked immediately, however, I didn't jump to any conclusions right away. I responded to the email, drew up a preliminary proposal, quoted cost of service and submitted an invoice for payment. Nonetheless, when it became apparent that the bride-to-be and her French fiance only intended on mailing a cashier's check, I knew right away what I was dealing with ... a scam! I happen to know that international cashier's checks are not fully validated for 90 days. So even though the check may clear at first, if found to be phony, the money is later deducted. I must say, i...

"Farm Sweet Farm" 1st Birthday Party

My husband and I celebrated our baby twins, Jonah & Gia's, 1st birthday with a "Farm Sweet Farm" party last weekend.  The party was held at our home (aka The Anderson Farm ) and our closest family and friends excitedly attended.  Honestly it's still difficult for us to believe a full year has gone by since they entered our lives, but one thing was clear from the beginning --- we had a lot to celebrate and we intended to do just that! Everyone had loads of fun; they would've partied until the cows came home if we let them.  And since the guests of honor LOVE animals, the theme proved to be absolutely perfect for them and their guests.  To most, I'm known for planning amazing weddings and bridal celebrations by means of THE BRIDAL PARTY , so it was really a lot of fun to step outside of my comfort zone and show off my versatility and range.  I can't deny, this was FUN!  I'm still quite "giddy" about it all. * * * * * * * * * * INVITA...

Lorraine & Alim: Glamour & Grace

At the close of summer, another of our lovely couples, Lorraine and Alim, tied the knot at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury, New York.  I first met the bride during an appearance of mine on The Wendy Williams Show  seven years ago.  She was a producer on that show at the time, but is now Vice President of Programming for True Entertainment and Executive Producer of Bravo's hit " The Real Housewives of Atlanta ."  When she became engaged and called me to help plan her wedding, I was beyond thrilled ... and the rest in history. Lorraine and Alim are both proud New Yorkers, so much of their wedding's design stemmed from that.  We designed and executed an extravagantly beautiful affair where hues of purple and grey took center stage.  The venue's lush, outdoor garden was chosen for the ceremony, which featured a wooden pergola draped in flowing fabric and fresh flowers.  A live jazz duo provided romantic accompaniment, as the bride walked down the aisle to Ch...
