Tied To Greatness

Last night I had the privilege to attend and participate in the Red Carpet Annual Tied to Greatness Fund raising Celebration, which featured a silent and live auction.  A good friend of mine, Heather Malloy (Owner, Make It Happen PR) graciously introduced me to Tied to Greatness™, which is a non-profit "outreach program that seeks to improve the self-image and esteem of at-risk, inner city high school males."  This phenomenal organization, founded by Alex O. Ellis, "uses the power of positive male role models, the influence of fashion, and the symbolism of the necktie as a point of manhood and maturity to remind young men about the importance of personal image, and to encourage each participant to make different choices about his future."

The fundraiser took place at BBraxton in Harlem (NYC) and we were thrilled to donate The Bridal Party's full service package as a live auction item.  Other notable auction items included Nascar tickets, an autographed Dwayne Wade basketball jersey, tickets to Broadway's hit play Chicago and dinner with Lamman Rucker (actor and 2009 Tied to Greatness sponsor).  Other sponsors who attended and participated were Kenny Lattimore (singer) and Alfred A. Edmond Jr. (SVP/Editor-in-Chief, BlackEnterprise.com).

It was an amazingly successful night!

Alex came to my church and spoke for us last year and he taught me how to tie a tie.
